Women in Aggregates Takes Center Stage at AGG1 With ‘Finding the Next Generation of Women in the Aggregates Industry’

Denver, CO – Feb. 15, 2024Women in Aggregates (WIA) invites you to an important panel discussion at AGG1, the premier aggregates event in North America. Mark your calendars for Monday, March 25 from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM CST and be part of the conversation shaping the future of women in this dynamic industry. Women in Aggregates – formed by SEMCO Publishing, parent company of Rock Products magazine – provides a supportive space for women to tackle the unique challenges and opportunities in this traditionally male-dominated industry. Its goal is to create a platform where women of all positions – from quarry workers to executives ­– can build connections, develop leadership skills, and advocate for the aggregates industry. By empowering women and providing them with resources, we hope to encourage more women to consider a career in the aggregates industry.

The interactive “Finding the Next Generation of Women in the Aggregates Industry” panel will feature leaders sharing their own experiences, as well as tips on how to recruit and retain the next generation of women in the aggregates industry. You can register now.

Resa Furey, Marketing & Business Development Manager, Global Mining at Stantec
Resa Furey leads marketing for Stantec’s global mining business and currently oversees the Mine Decarbonization initiative to help mining companies ready their operations for a green future, reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, replace their energy with cleaner sources and where needed, remove carbon from the atmosphere. She is active in many professional organizations related to mining and aggregate, is a staunch supporter of women in both industries, and was named to the 100 Inspirational Women in Mining list in 2018.

Raquel Lazur, Project Manager – Southwest Aggregates at Heidelberg Materials
Raquel Lazur is a project manager at Heidelberg Materials, where she has been pivotal in developing a comprehensive CAPEX plan for the development of new and existing aggregate facilities and rail terminals to increase capacity across the Southwest region. Previously, she excelled as an assistant plant manager and pit production supervisor at two of Heidelberg Materials’ largest facilities, where she led significant initiatives in production enhancement, maintenance program management, and budget design, contributing substantially to the plant’s profitability and efficiency.

Karen Thompson, President at Haver & Boecker Niagara
Karen Thompson is the president of Haver & Boecker Niagara’s North American and Australian operations. Her more than 25 years of experience with the company helps her lead a team focused on providing customers processing equipment solutions to help them get the highest possible production rates and reliability.
